We ended up having to opt for a Dodge Grand Caravan. While it was a decent size, it wasn't what we really needed. When we pulled out of the lot, we immediately notice how absolutely filthy the windows were - obviously they don't clean them or the vehicle itself because it was dirty as well. About an hour into our trip I turned on the heater. Within 5 minutes all you could smell was cigarette smoke coming out of the heater. They have stickers on the window that says they charge you $250 if you smoke in their vehicles - obviously they do not use any of that money to replace the air filter to the heating/AC system. We drove over 2,000 miles having to smell that and it was disgusting.
I have never dealt with a worse rental car location.
I am a frequent business traveler dealing with many Avis locations. This was the first time using this location and I couldn't be happier. The model of car I reserved online was not available when I went to pick up the car. However, the representative working at the counter presented me with two alternative vehicles and allowed me to choose which I preferred, keeping the same rate I reserved online. I have been a fan of Avis for quite some time and will most definitely be using this location again. Keep up the good work Avis!
We made the reservation for our vehicle for our family vacation over a week in advance. We made the reservation with a pickup scheduled for 4 pm. We arrived at the office at 4:05 pm only to be told that our vehicle is not at their location yet and they have to go get it at another Budget office - that was 45 minutes away. So they expected us to wait for an hour and a half while they go get the vehicle we already paid for in advance. We were on a time schedule so we didn't have the time to wait that long and we shouldn't have to anyway. They told us that they have other vehicles there we could choose from - but none of them were the full size SUV like we were supposed to receive.
I've rented from Enterprise Rental in the past, and felt like I was on trial, and an inconvenience. So I went to Avis, and felt like my business was very appreciated.
Word of advice - Enterprise Rent A Car is right down the street about a mile away on North Broad Street. Do yourself a favor and go there instead. At least they care about their customers unlike these worthless jokers. It's no wonder this Budget has a 2 star rating as I'm writing this review.
When we returned the vehicle, we told the woman at the counter about it and she just said we have to call customer service and file a complaint. She basically just brushed it off like it was nothing.
Edit, 2 years later, I'm still a valued avis customer ive become a avis platinum rewards member.
Great service, and quick pickup and drop off. They didn't have the car I reserved this time but gave me an upgrade which was excellent. I'd give five stars but I always seem to have an issue with the EZ Pass – other than that, this place is pretty much perfect.
The cars are always clean when you get them, the employees are friendly and they are always on time.
